Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
La Corbiere, Jersey by James Reed (United Kingdom)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
On a family holiday to jersey we visited La Corbiere lighthouse with is perched on a high rock as if the building is asserting its importance. the lighthouse is at the end of a causeway which is only accessible when the tide is out. Walking towards the lighthouse I came across a large rock pool created by the retreating tide. I notice the lighthouse was reflected in the water creating a mirror image. I set up my tripod and capped the lighthouse and its reflection. I wanted to highlight the importance of this lighthouse and the role place in saving lives. Capturing it on land and reflected in the sea connotes the importance it has to those on land and on the sea.
AUTHOR
I am an amateur photographer from Leeds. I have been interested in photography ever since I went on a colleague trip to Barcelona and happened to be the student without an SLR camera. After seeing the quality of the pictures they were taking I know I had to get one. The following Christmas I received a canon camera. I enjoy the creative process when taking and developing an image. I hope to inspire people to get out and enjoy the landscape.
