Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Before dawn, I left Yogyakarta with three friends on motorbikes (ojek) to reach a hilltop, Puncak Situmbu, and to see the sunrise from there. As the morning mist slowly faded, Borobudur temple could be seen across the trees. With the silence and the cold all around us, it became a magic moment.
Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, near Yogyakarta, central Java, Indonesia, built between AD 750 and 842
The Buddhist temple Borobudur was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1991.
