ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo was taken in Norway during the summer 2018, at the end of a hiking session. It looked like a petrified tree. The last form of life although it seemed completely dead. The circularity of the grooves in the trunk seem to express a form of suffering, a form of torture which lead the eye towards the branches reaching towards a falling sky. The mist was falling on the plateau. This moment was the end of the day, the end of my hike and this tree seemed like the end of everything, the last specimen of a generation of trees that had trespassed on this earth and which could embody all its fellow trees which had disappeared.
This tree felt like a tombstone, a statue, a sepulcher and yet, it also felt like the only thing alive around me.
This trip to Norway was a cornerstone in my life, a moment when I was trying to find a new path for my life. This tree looked like a calvary, the kinds we find in my country in France, at crossroads. It seemed to show me the new paths I was looking for were everywhere, endless, multiple. This dead tree actually gave me hope and looked like a new beginning in my life.
