Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
Kurds demonstrate against the Turkish Offensive in Syria (22nd March 2018, Brussels) by Andrea RICCI (Belgium)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The day after Newroz (Persian and Kurdish New Year) Kurds, Assyrians, Alevis, Armenians, Yezidis, and numerous Kurdish NGOs in Brussels demonstrate against the Turkish backed operation which allows Syrian rebels (Salafists, according to the demonstrators) to take the centre of Afrin, located in what the Kurds call the Canton of Rojava in North West Syria. Demonstrators covered in blood and carrying the pictures of the fallen or wounded combatants chant slogans honouring the martyrs.
