Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Back in 2006 I was exploring the hidden gems of Cuba. I took this photograph at a tobacco farm in the vicinity of Vinales. After having a chat with Roberto, the head of a local cigar producer family this composition caught my eyes. While you can see through the window the parked horse in front of the "factory", your attention is naturally directed to the fresh, handmade products of the proud family.
There is some kind of secret hidden in every single cigar. The locals are happy, live long, and age slowly. Well, these cigars are made from naturally dried tobacco leaves, without any artificial additives, with honey used as a glue. This photo is full of peace and utter simplicity. At the end of the day, what do you think is needed for a balanced, happy life?
