Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I was asked by a lady I know who owns a racing track to take a few pics of the race team. I could only cover one race before I had to go to another appointment. I was a bit unsure of what my shutter speed should be so I tried panning at the speed I thought the horses would come by to see what effect I would get and it turned out to be the perfect shutter speed. The horses came by so quickly but at least I got 5 amazing shots before they were gone and I had to leave. This one is my favorite.
AUTHOR
“What is it about certain photographs that will make us stop and stare for a while. A timeless piece of art that moves you inside, so deeply that you cry. The stories they tell, the moments they capture which in a blink of an eye could be lost forever. Is it their resolute sense of identity, each one unique? Maybe it’s about the colour they hold, or don’t hold, or the shadows that mysteriously draws us in. The way the light falls. Or maybe it’s just a sense of freedom caught within a frame. A frame of mind, a frame that holds a picture, a picture on a wall. A voice on its own.
A voice everyone hears in a different language. One photograph, many interpretations. One canvas, a million ways to paint it. I am by all means no professional photographer yet but I am pushing hard to get there and I will keep on painting my digital pictures until I reach the stars
