ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This picture is part of my photographic project to record in images the people and the daily life of indigenous people in the North of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Dame Martiliana is a 93 years old widow that lives in the village of Riacho de Areia, Rio Pardo de Minas, Brazil. It is still very common to hang old painted photos on the walls of the poor houses. The one that she is holding shows Dame Martiliana and her deceased husband in a younger stage of life. The boxes in her back are "buracas" and are very rare. They were made with crude leather and were used, in the past, to store farm made groceries and bring them to the town to sell.
AUTHOR
I am an advanced amateur photographer, with fifteen years of experience.
I started taking pictures in the go-kart races where I participated. Gradually I was trying to evolve my technique, improving equipment and seeking knowledge through courses and literature.
Among my areas of interest highlight landscape photography and urban, especially using black and white as a form of expression.
In 2014 and 2015, I lived in Miami, taking the opportunity to improve my technique with great American photographers like John Batdorff, Kurt Budliger and Robert Chaplin.
I love to travel and I visited more than 50 countries. For me, photography is an excellent excuse to be on the road! In addition to the contact with other cultures, travel possible click a variety of subjects such as National Parks of the American West, the Havana hidden from tourists, the daily life of Paris, Northern lights, etc
