Portrait: Honorable Mention 2018 (amateur)
Myah by Jeffrey Samson (Canada)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Freelensed with a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 "pancake" lens. This lens was imported from Japan and is nearly 40 years old. My niece, Myah, was sitting on there stairs close to a large window which was my light source. I have always been drawn to the simplicity of black and white portraits. Usually what comes to mind are sharp and details portraits showcasing a persons unique characteristics. But I think that it's also possible to create a strong black and white portrait that is for the most part out of focus. Freelensing can create some wonderful soft images with a slice of focus, and I think that this works beautifully for children.
