ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I was shooting aquatic creatures in cabilao island of the Philippines in August 2017. I saw a local fisherman diving underwater. He was hunting fish using a long spear gun. He held his breath and hunted underwater and showed a painful look when he ascended. Several times while he was diving and hunting I gained him a filming consent and filmed him in underwater.
One of the traditional ways of hunting fish in the Philippines is the Speargun Hunt. It's a way to breathe and go into the water with a spear gun to hunt. The pain and fear that can not breathe are revealed through his expression. I took a series of local fisherman's facial expressions that continue their livelihood in such a dangerous way.
