ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Lonesome in the lobby captures a man waiting, not sure for what, at 2 am-ish, next to a very busy place full of bars in Brussels, the so called Place Flagey. He is just there, thinking, cerebrating, in the middle of the night. While chaos of the night wildlife is all around, he is calm and quiet, waiting.
AUTHOR
I started photography a few months ago, not a good start for a biography! Main reason being I always felt attracted to it, capturing this fraction of time, the ability to transcribe emotions in a society that seems to be more and more polished, the way just one shot without text, without context can just say it all. After going through a difficult time, I finally decided to go behind the lens myself and it's as if a new world opened to me: the way I perceive light and shadow, how I can seize that moment, see something nobody saw, the intimacy you can create with a subject in a few seconds. It's as if a new sense was born. At the same time, my camera creates a sense of security of comfort, not being on my own, having the camera between myself and the subject. My camera is somehow always with me, like a third arm :-)
Apart from that, I am the lucky mum of two extraordinary children: Neil (8) and Victoria (6), who both start embracing photography. I have been living in France most of my life, shortly in Germany and in the UK and now have been in Belgium, Brussels since 2007. City that I love for all of what it gives. I have British, French and Swiss nationality...interesting mix: Brexiter, European believer and Neutrality...!
Hope this gives you a little more insight.
