Abstract: Honorable Mention 2018 (professional)
Episode one (from the series "Six episodes of a secret life") by Maartje Kingma (Netherlands)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Episode one, from the series " six episodes of a secret life").
The series shows in six different episodes how all moments in life are encircled by love.
Each episode is an example of how we often keep our deepest feelings and thoughts secret and we limit ourselves to the structure of society, through which we experience blockades. In essence there are no blockades , everything is a fluid whole, encircled by love.
Nothing ever has a beginning or an end, unfortunately we made that up which influences our senses.
AUTHOR
As long as I can remember , I am attracted to the unusual , the damaged , the weathered , the destroyed and the rejected.
My work as a teacher in child psychiatry, my later career as an interior designer and my contemporary artistry , have one common denominator : unraveling the character , the sources and the values of inner beauty .
My photography is experimental, for me it's not about sharpness and even less the kind of camera.
My strength is that I work intuitively , spontaneously and improvising , not obstructed by rules and laws.
I experience the beauty of the fragile , the damaged , the weathered and the rejected. The surfaces I experience in our reality , form a thin film that filters many worlds.
What intrigues me are the images that are hidden and what they reveal.
Therefore I unmask , dissect , disarm , disentangle and discover until an image manifests that forces to humility.
Then I have achieved what it is all about , embracing the power of the hidden .
