ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Hansaviertel, Berlin Germany.
This photo was taken at the building design by Architect Oscar Niemeyer is part of the architectural complex named Hansaviertel, one of the most important and representative architectural complex of the Modernist Period. In these expansive collective complex, the best architects of the time participated. They used different points of view and different architectural possibilities in their projects. Iconic architects such as Walter Gropius, Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Egon Eiermann were invited to design and build the new Hansaviertel by standards and in the style of modern architecture.
This photo is part of a larger project named Dualities: Memory - Oblivion that combines a series of photographs that share similarities in the architectonic elements that they portrait and also in their composition. With this, such images complement each other or draw a continuum between both of them. Each one of these dualities portraits two buildings from the Modernist period but taken in two different cities: Hansaviertel, in Berlin, and Ciudad Universitaria, in Mexico City.
AUTHOR
I was born in Mexico City, 40 years ago. I studied an Undergraduate major in Art History at the Universidad Iberoamericana, a Jesuit university with great passion and understanding for culture and its meaning. In additions, before completing my Bachelor's Degree I enrolled in a photography community college, Escuela Activa de Fotografía in Mexico City and feel deeply passionate about it. After graduating, I embarked on a trip to Barcelona Spain, with the conviction of deepening my knowledge on photography and specializing in architectural photography at the Instituto de Estudios Fotográficos de Cataluña (Barcelona). I have worked for different institutions and architecture offices. My work has been published in different printed publications in Mexico and abroad, such as: Interiores Mexicanos, Espacios, Arquine, The Phaidon Atlas of 21st World Architecture, 1000 X Architecture of the Americas, and others. I have participated in various solo and collective exhibitions and I have received some recognition in Mexico and other countries: Berlin PhotoBiennale 2016, honorific mention, Feria Internacional del Libro de Artista, Mexico, 2009, and others.
