Nature: Honorable Mention 2018 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Porthleven | Cornwall, UK
On the 16th of October 2017 ex-hurricane Ophelia brought very strong winds and caused significant disruption across western parts of the UK, and was the worst storm to affect Ireland in 50 years.
Strangely this date fell on the exact 30th anniversary of the Great Storm of 16th October 1987.
Porthleven is a fishing port near Helston in Cornwall. It is the most southerly port on the island of Great Britain and is probably one of the most storm-battered towns in Britain.
On this occasion, the giant swell and relentless winds created storm waves of biblical proportions!
