ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Michael Koch`s work "parental care" from his ongoing series "eternal collection" was taken in 2015 in Duesseldorf, Germany.
In his series Michael Koch combines photographs of nature and science and its (re)presentation. The pictures in this series are about the space between the imagined and real. Taken in his studio and museums of natural history around Europe, the photographs show bones, skulls and animals isolated from their natural habitat.
AUTHOR
Michael Koch, born in 1973 in Braunschweig, Germany, is a visual artist and photographer based in Düsseldorf, Germany. His work explores the boundaries between nature, identity, and representation, often through meticulously composed portraits, still lifes, and natural forms. Koch studied communication design , art and photography at the University of Essen (Folkwang School), where he graduated in 2004 under the mentorship of Bernhard Prinz and Herta Wolf.
Since then, Koch has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally.
