Portrait: Honorable Mention 2018 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I met Jimmy while exploring downtown Portland. The man was indeed one of the most eloquent homeless people I ever spoke to.
Jimmy told me that his dream of us becoming a journalist and even started college. However, due to "bad decisions" he ended up on the streets.
Upon asking Jimmy why he would not return to college, I was met with an unbelievable and chilling sense of awareness: " Kid, I am an over 40s, homeless and black man in America." Believe, I have no chance to restart in this country.
