Architecture: Honorable Mention 2019 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Milan is most famous for it's Italian Gothic Duomo in the strict centre of the city. But venture a bit further out of town and you can find the Church of San Giovanni di Bono: A striking brutalist structure made from reinforced concrete. Church buildings have always been designed in such a way that they inspire awe and devotion. The Church of San Giovanni di Bono is no different. It almost feels like a fortification, but it inspires awe this with its sheer lines and with its arrow-slit windows that cause the light to stream in atmospherically. In this photograph I wanted to capture the contrast and shadow within this incredible building and help to bring out its sheer lines and angles more clearly.
