ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Terminus is a collection of photographs taken during a solo journey across most of Western Europe. Traversing eleven countries, the pilgrimage quickly evolved into the desire to depict the continent as a near-empty wasteland. Monuments and pre-war buildings stand in the darkness like tombstones acknowledging humanity's former presence. People and other animals emerge, but only in moments of pain, desperation and hope. Many of them stand naked in a world of uncertainty, as they were originally meant to exist. And in the absence of human beings, nature thrives and accelerates its growth to the point where tree branches pierce the skies, obliterating what light remains. Many of the photos alternate between scenes of intense struggle and solemn reflection into the silent conflict between the natural world and our modern times.
