ENTRY DESCRIPTION
In March of 2019 I took a trip to Uruguay. Near the beach town of Jose Ignacio there is an incredibly stark contrast between wealth and poverty. Uruguay is a decidedly third world country, yet in Jose Ignacio there are multi-million dollar beach homes. Driving away from Jose Ignacio back inland, I was struck by this decrepit old house covered in graffiti. It seemed the perfect transition travelling from the wealthy area by the beach back inland where people live in great poverty. I imagine it was once a beautiful home to someone, but it has been transformed into a symbol of the struggle people face in Uruguay.
