Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2019 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Ribbon Rock, as I have named it, is a monument to the public land it occupies. Near the iconic Factory Butte in the Utah desert, it cuts a jagged path into the sky. This land is beautiful, remarkable, and like nothing else on the planet. The land has also been opened up to be used, in any way however. And it is. Tire tracks rip through the land that is littered with the fumes of OHVs. The rock stands, for now, even as vehicles are ridden up and down its irreplaceable slopes. Let's hope that it continues to be resilient, and that it may have a voice even if those responsible for it have forgotten to remember it.
