Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2019 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image is part of a body of work titled 'This Other Eden' which documents the U.K.'s 15 National Parks over two years. This photograph is of Pen y Fan, which is also know as Cadair Artur (Arthur's Seat) and was the ancient burial place of Celtic Chieftains. It was taken from Mynydd Illtyd, which is the burial place of St Illtyd, a 6th century saint who according to legend was a cousin of King Arthur and served him as a knight. In the sixth century, he founded Cor Tewdws, one of the earliest schools in the U.K.at Llantwit Major.
AUTHOR
I grew up in the New Forest and was fortunate to have spent time in the mountains and other 'wild' places from an early age. Motivated by a desire to share my experiences of these beautiful landscapes, I soon developed an interest in photography. This passion for the outdoor environment led to a career in outdoor education. I continued to develop my photography skills as a student of Ffotogallery, the national agency for the development of photography in Wales and I have recently completed an MA in Documentary photography at the University of South Wales. I am currently working on a long-term project examining re-wilding in the U.K.
