ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Edward Weston's Pismo Dunes photographed into the setting sun.
AUTHOR
I am happily without gallery representation, and free to follow any artistic impulse, unfettered by an allegiance to specific subject matter. What matters more is the power of an individual piece or series to evoke emotion, as well as certain formal basics such as tonality and the use of space and negative space to create tension within the frame. In monochrome I particularly value the capacity of the photographic medium to produce ravishing silvery tones. I have benefited from studies with giants such as Ruth Bernhard, Jerry Uelsmann, Ray McSaveney, and Tim Rudman.
