Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2019 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Neist Point on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, a popular location for photographers. The scale of the landscape and cliff is breathtaking in real life, the two tiny figures on the top of the cliff gives some indication of the size in question.
AUTHOR
I am an amateur photographer from Glasgow, Scotland. I don't specialise in any one area, but feel my landscape images are some of my strongest.
I am often drawn to certain colours that give a feel of the mood of a scene, whether that be a subtle pastel or a strong, vibrant, radiating colour, but a high contrast monochrome image can be even more dramatic, effective and thought provoking. Architecture images in monochrome display the design of a building in the most simple, yet dramatic way.
In contrast, I also enjoy capturing the soft feel of movement, if relevant in a scene, using intentional camera movement.
I very much admire the quality and vision of photographers who have appeared in past winners galleries of the monochrome awards, the entries are of a very high standard and seeing the work of others is very inspirational.
A member of Eastwood Photographic Society in Newton Mearns, I enjoy participating in camera club competitions. The standard in Eastwood is very high and we have some very accomplished and talented photographers at the club who are regular winners in top competitions at national, regional and all levels.
