ENTRY DESCRIPTION
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.”
– William Shakespeare
The Stage Series is a collection of painterly images that explore the idea of life as a performance, through poses, gestures and juxtapositions of human figures. These are manufactured bodies, lifelike but lifeless mannequins that are infinitely beautiful and virtually indestructible. Using the transformative power of light, perspective & the viewer’s own imagination, they are infused with desire, vulnerability and a narrative. Assumptions of who they may be, or what games they could be playing are projections of roles and scripts one is familiar with, or enchanted by.
