Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2019 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
A Jewish family captured in prayer next to the Tortin Glacier in southern Switzerland. Dying glaciers have become one of the symbols of climate change: a visible representation of the crisis faced by every living organism calling Earth their home.
AUTHOR
Nadia de Lange is a fine art photographer based in Zurich, Switzerland. She aims to capture the soul of her subject, be it a landscape, building or animal, transforming what others see in the scene into what she sees when looking through the lens. Using mainly black and white, the emphasis is on form and contrast and how the interaction between these elements create beauty.
