Abstract: Honorable Mention 2019 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Skeiðarársandur is a vast plain of black sand and ash covered with numerous small rivulets in the south of iceland.
It spans the entire range between the glacier and the sea
In the warmer months the ice melts from the country’s permanent ice caps and this offers extraordinary abstract patterns on the river beds as rain water and glacial water have different densities and therefore do not naturally fuse.
This picture was taken from a light plane at about 5000 feet and looking straight down on the river deltas of Skeidararsandur on the South Coast of the country

Work focus: abstract landscape photography with main focus on aerial shots.
I have been involved in photography since I was 10 years old. My father introduced me to the world of analogue photography. In these early days, I gained my first experience with abstract photography in the field of macro photography. Since then aerial photography became my main subject. 80% of my photographic work has consisted of aerial photography in the abstract landscape field. Some of roland blum's essential works are presented in his online gallery www.rolandblum.com
