Waiting for the Groom... by Mike Baker (United States)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
While on an Urban Exploration photoshoot at City Methodist Church, Gary, IN, the bride was doing a separate photoshoot, wandered into my frame of view. Taking advantage provided the resultant image. Adding the human element adds additional interest to the captured scene.
AUTHOR
Mike Baker considers himself a visual artist- that is, one who uses photography as the medium to create and share his vision of the world. Mike is currently based in the Chicago area.
Two of Mike's greatest passions in life are travel and photography. Traveling on family vacations as a youngster provided motivation to see places outside of his home state of Maryland. Further travel through previous military and current work assignments further broadened his view of the world via experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other countries. Mike has been very fortunate to have traveled throughout the U.S, Europe and Asia (China), Cuba. Both travel and photography has made Mike better appreciate my own home and culture as well as the people and lands he has visited.
Photography is an art of observation. It offers a creative outlet that allows Mike to capture interesting subjects in an ordinary place, transforming them into something extraordinary. Over the course of his photographic journey, Mike has developed that ‘third eye,’ that provides perception beyond ordinary sight. He takes time to study his subjects, looking for patterns, shapes, light and shadow, and develop the image from this standpoint.
His work is most notable in monochrome including landscape, architecture/city-scape, and long exposure imagery.
