ENTRY DESCRIPTION
As the notion of long-held United States values change, I am capturing national symbols emblematic of those values that may be transforming away from once long-held beliefs. The Statue of Liberty's gaze, expressing a silent, yet intense strength, is another symbol that captures the historical magnificence of freedom. She watches over all who approach, and over a country that once avowed to accept and protect them. The Statue's plaque, once a beacon to freedom for all, has recently become the battlecry of anti-nationalists. Will she gaze over the protected, or frown over their protectors?
AUTHOR
Published fine art architecture/event photographer/former photojournalist (Texas) now located in the Washington, D.C. metro area who is passionate about architecture and the story it can tell…through the right lens. I also enjoy capturing how life intersects with buildings, monuments/sculptures, and landscapes. I consider myself a fine art photographer because I endeavor to capture how light enhances objects as seen through my lens. Life for me has many soft…and hard edges, often in the same scene. It can be reported through images of the structures we build; and in those we leave to decay. I direct my work to projects that allow me to focus on great structures and capture their emotion and elegance.
