ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Waking up at dawn to capture these two dreamy portraits was a surreal experience. I went for a 5am stroll among the backyard waters of Taj Mahal India to discovered local rural life and villages preparing for the day of work ahead. Surrounded by distant prayer chants coming from neighbouring temples and slow awakening of nature I captured this young boy on the shore after having waded through waters with his mother. This image even if taken a while back on my analogue camera represents to me an essence of youth contrasted against maturity, passing of time and dynamic between opposing energies. The innocence and curiosity on the boy contrasts strikingly with the withholding three men in the background.

AUTHOR
Since I first began my photographic journey as a 12 year old, the theme of my portfolio has
evolved full circle, returning finally to nature. My first analogue cameras, full and medium
format (Zenit, Pentax, 6 x 6 cm Pentakon 6) were used to capture monochrome images of
trees which I felt very drawn to as a child. I spent hours in the darkroom completely in awe
of the developing process. I shared my early passion with other young people by teaching
darkroom photography at an Art Camp in Pennsylvania, USA. Colour, street and portrait
photography came to me when I travelled the world as a young adult and was overtaken
by the intensity of India, Asia and Latin America. At this time I also experimented with
slides and lomography. After visiting Argentina and discovering Argentine Tango my
style shifted to conceptual photography. I was captivated by the intimacy of dance and
meditative movement. My portfolio attracted high profile clients from the corporate world.
Since 2012 I have been regularly invited to shoot at board meetings, press release events
and parliament.
