Fine Art: Honorable Mention 2019 (professional)
Cosmos Flower (from the series ‘In The Garden’) by Agnieszka Trzoch (United Kingdom)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image is a part of a series ‘In The Garden’, portraits of the flowers shot on 35mm old analogue camera (Zenit 11) last August.
I often shoot in the studio using plain background. This approach isolated the subjects from their regular environment and focused the attention of the viewer on the subject only. I wanted to create the photographs where I could implement this technique but let the natural environment of my subject to play the part. My intention was to find the right balance between my version of the subject as art and simply documentation it in a detached manner.
AUTHOR
I am Polish / British still life and portraiture photographer. I use photography as tool to interpret specific elements of the fragmented world around me. This often presents itself in an abstract form, which reflects my exploratory vision of life. I try to combine the aesthetics and authenticity of my subject’s personality/character.
I like constructing my reality to show my perception of themes I consider interesting. For me personally, photography becomes a journey where I simultaneously discover and shape my subject according to my perception of reality. Therefore I am constructing my uniquely personal version of the subject rather than simply documenting it.
