Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2019 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
We flew over the vast forest of Caquetá, Colombia. My heart accelerates, the noise of the propellers stuns you. I go with my camera and surrounded by approximately 10 soldiers in a scary war machine for those who hear it arrive. I am surrounded by professionals, people who intimidate you and at the same time make you feel safe. I'm not friends with weapons. I see destruction and death in them. But if I am a friend of the Human, a commander comes up to me and says "Hold on tight this is starting" I have nowhere to hold and a soldier grabs my backup, he does not let me go until he disembarks. When we reach the point of descent where these men are thrown with ropes and dogs between legs I see them fall one by one into hostile territory without knowing their fate.
