ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This picture was taken in Essaouira, Morocco, May 2017. Strolling through the narrow streets, trying to navigate my way through the tiny streets. The heat was extreme around lunch time, it was loud and the streets were busy. This was when I saw this elderly man sitting in front of his shop, in half shade, observing the street.
This man clearly has life experience, has worked hard all his life. His appearance, even without recognising his face, draws a image of a hard working man. The struggle is visible, his pose however is relaxed, as he is observing his surroundings. Taking a break from daily life is what we tend to forget, yet it is so important to step back and have a look at yourself and surroundings from time to time.
This picture means a lot to me because it has multiple layers despite its simplicity. It sets the viewer immediately into a hot (arabic) sphere. It shows a man having a break, observing the street. A touch of mystery around this character, who is clearly a hard working man. It shows enough to tell this mans story, yet it keeps this mans integrity.

AUTHOR
Simon works as Photographer, Camera Tech and Operator in film industry. He has been working in the film industry since graduating from Media studies in Germany 2007. Passionate Photographer, mostly shooting on film. Simons workhorse is a Leica M6, paired with a 50mm Summilux and a Hasselblad 203FE, Planar FE80mm. Simon finds himself shooting street photography as well as portraits and landscapes. Inspired by traveling the world Simon´s aim is to tell storys by capturing moments.
