Street: Honorable Mention 2019 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
I decided to go for a walk to watch the waves crashing into the harbor wall. I felt the South African sun on my skin, which was especially kissing my neck. Then this happy little girl appeared right in front of me, next to the huge harbor wall. We talked to each other, with gesture only...and while she said goodbye, I took a shot on my Leica M240. I needed this moment to be saved. After 21 sunsets and kisses on my neck, I realized this wasn't just a single goodbye moment. It's the picture which says goodbye to an entire experience of culture, nature and truly South African spirit.

Carolin first started with Photography back in 2014, though it took a while, to form her passion into a career path and create her own aesthetic, which is influenced by impressions from her daily life and from around the world, especially from nature sceneries and cultural experiences. She borrows nature’s tools, such as light and primeval environments, to unite the elegance and uniqueness of nature and human souls on a creative level, which furthermore turns into lifestyle, commercial and fine art photography. While always appreciating the haptical qualities of light, as much as the absence of it, she is presenting a chance to enjoy quietude and emotional beauty.
