AUTHOR
My interest in photography stems back to my childhood. My grandfather, a photography hobbyist, enjoyed many road trips across the US, and he took thousands of pictures of his travels. While he entered some of his favorites into county fairs and other local competitions (and actually won blue ribbons), he always had them all developed into slides, and then he invited my family over to watch slide shows and listen to him narrate each shot. As a fidgety goofball youngster, sitting through those hours of slides was tortuous, but it must have imbedded in my subconscious love for the view behind the lens.
The Pacific Northwest, where I was born and raised, serves as the backdrop for many of my shots, but I also enjoy traveling, and so far have spent time in Europe, and my “second home” in Costa Rica. I’m equipped with my camera on all of those travels as well, always on the hunt for something that sparks interest. Utilizing natural light and colors, and uncommon angles or vantage points (or once in a while maybe a small tucked away light source) to capture something beautiful, dramatic, or unique is what feeds my artistic side, and my hope is that the end result is something that resonates with others too!
