ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Walking through the Queens Botanical Gardens I noticed as the sun lit up the petals and leaves on this cluster of sunflowers they seem to be reaching higher upwards as if to touch the sky.

The photographer Cate Franklyn’s photographic story began when she moved back to her old neighborhood of Astoria Queens, New York. With camera in hand she continues to rediscover the beauty of the urban landscape of her youth and newly discovering its dynamic redevelopment. She captures images of the ordinary and makes them extraordinary as seen through her urban eyes.
