Landscapes: Honorable Mention 2020 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The fishermen of the Xiapu region in China leverage tides and long bamboo poles to grow seaweed, oysters, muscles, and fish. There's a main channel that cuts through a veritable forest of bamboo poles and it's constantly awash in traffic. What drew me to it and this shot was the continuation of the boat's meandering S curve as it wound towards the docks. The muted colors of an overcast day only served to add to the mood of the photo, which I hope shares a sense of the sheer size of humanity's touch on the local landscape.
AUTHOR
Born in Colorado, I grew up in Arizona and was deeply impacted by the contrast between the two landscapes. In recent years I moved to Copenhagen which has brought with it an entirely new perspective, light, and opportunity to explore and capture the world. The majority of my work focuses on capturing the moment with a focus on realism.
