ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This image is from a beach on an island in Maine noted for its impressive array of rounded stones, formed by the pounding Atlantic Ocean surf. I return to the island every summer and often visit this beach in the early morning, looking for grand sunrise landscapes and more intimate compositions. While the collection of smooth, rounded rocks is captivating, finding a more intimate composition that is engaging can be a challenge. With this scene I liked the progression of stones from front to back and the way they seemed comfortably nested together. A morning fog layer provided nice, even light that brought out the soft tones and textures that caught my eye.
