This is one of my favorite images I took during the Washington D.C. spring blooms of 2018. Taken with 8x10"and delta 100 film aiming straight up as a front of clouds rolled in. While it's not a flashy photo with a message behind it, I'm fond of the refracted light of the overcast conditions shining through magnolia pedals. In the full resolution film scan one can even see the veins in the pedals. I took the photo hastily because the overhead cloud while large was moving very quickly across the sky as the softer light would be gone rather quickly. I'm glad it turned out the way it did since I had to wait months top develop the film.
AUTHOR
I began my hobby with photography at 16 with a small point and shoot that my mother got me due to a very vague knowledge of what I would want that year and now I'm well into my journey in the medium. I currently use a Gibellni 8x10 film camera for 90% of my work while using a Canon T6 as a backup and light meter to help visualize what a scene may look like. I trek around New York City and when I'm lucky across the world with a 40lb backpack full of cameras and film to see what catches my eye. I started with landscapes and macro photography since my first camera did well with the two but now i've leaned into more minimalist compositions with simple lined and tones for a scene. I love shooting the amazing architecture here in New York as well as landscapes when I travel out of the city.
