Photojournalism: 1st Place Winner 2020 (amateur)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Nord of France. October 2020. During a firemens'strike a group of people try to join the city hall but the road is blocked by cops. I was shooting the burning wheels when a old man, looking surprised, cross the road. Finding something more interesting that simple fire during a riot, this humain element paste perfectly with my target.
In this photo I try to mix somes street photograpy elements with a more journalistic composition, in order to progress with my street photographic work . All the scene is pressent in the frame and the evenet is easy to read. A peacefully day breaked by an act of social violence. The surgical mask weared by the man, give at the picture an extra details fixing the moment in this pandemic crisis period.
AUTHOR
Born in the south of Italy, I studied cinema and journalism and then I moved to France where I began to work in video editing. I fell in love with photography the last 5 years realizing thousands of pictures of Paris, Rome and other city where I lived and visited for travel. I have changed my life to work full-time as a sport photographer. For my personal work I choose to shoot in black and white, digital or film, for the different meaning that lights and shadows give to the subjects. I work to mix my passion for cinema (specially Italian Neorealismo and French Realism) with my journalistic studies in order to create a personal street photgraphy style. My aim is to frame the world around me without any kind of judgment but full empathy with peolple's lives.
