ENTRY DESCRIPTION
My sitter was with me for a photo session at my home studio. During the shoot, I really wanted to to a simple but effective head and shoulders portrait shot, by literally taking everything down to the bare essentials, including the sitter with no adornments or anything else on him. I liked his look with his neatly clipped afro, he was also a dancer with a strong physique. So I kept him bare-chested with just one single continuous light source to the side in keeping with the simplicity concept, and a plain dark background to complete the setting. We took several shots and this one was my favourite, with him in a pensive position looking away from the camera ( reviewing the image afterwards, it reminded me a little bit of Rodin's 'The Thinker' ).
