ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo is one of a series from a project where I have been working on, with the focus being on naturally big hair, big curls and big afros. The project was to promote and celebrate naturally big and voluminous hairstyles. This particular model said he tended to tie it back on a day to day basis, but really enjoyed the hair-freeing opportunity in this photo shoot ! I wanted the shot to look quite dramatic, so one light was placed overhead to literally highlight his crowning glory in a halo of light at the top and graduating down to the darkness. The strong contrast really shows off the individual strands in his great body of hair and the strong shadow and light is also highlighted within his facial features. I am a big fan of big hair and would love to have hair like this, it is said that you should photograph what you love, so I have !
