ENTRY DESCRIPTION
When everyone gets dressed for the day, whether they are aware or not, they put on a costume, an invisible mask meant to embody the image of the person they want the world to see.
I have been moved by this period in history in the midst of the largest civil rights movement ever, occurring along with isolating for months from the Covid19 pandemic, a time when everyone should be wearing a mask in public, fitting for a photographic, self portrait study on the masks we wear, both the visible and invisible. Using mainly what was at my disposal at home, I have taken self-portraits, meant to provoke and highlight how we perceive and might judge others based on appearance, sexuality, religion, nationality, wealth, and gender.
