ENTRY DESCRIPTION
At times, we all feel lonely. To be alone is to take on all of the worlds problems without support. I met this solitary hawksbill sea turtle just a minutes swim off shore in a coral reef in Egypt. Every sunrise and sunset there would be a brief moment when it would come swimming along the reef. I would get up before everyone and head straight down to the beach. During the morning swim I would meet up with this alone creature and share a brief moment together.
Most sea turtles, like the hawksbills have a tough life today. Illegal trade with their shells, egg collection and loss of nesting areas are just a few of the many threats facing turtles today. Biologists estimate a 80% decline in hawksbill population in the most recent 100 years. Today the species is considered to be threatened by extinction.
That is a rapid decline for a species that have existed about 100-million years.
As I spent time with the turtle I felt less alone and a strong desire to help take some actions to help a species in need. Together we can make an impact for good, or for bad. We need to turn our actions to the good of the planet and all the creatures in it.

I'm an amateur photography and wildlife enthusiast. Being out on adventures with my camera is what I enjoy most in this world. Except for my passion for wildlife photography I have studied environmental science and work as a environmental consultant. I hope that I can inspire people to love our nature as much as I do with my photography.
