Abstract: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
When doing chemical experiments, I find out that chemical solutions can form beautiful patterns on containers with macro lenses. That are crystals. I captured the crystal of nicotinic acid by using a macro lens. This complex pattern may also hide the secret of nature.
AUTHOR
I am Wenting Zhu, a scientific photographer and filmmaker of Beauty of Science. For over five years, I have been creating images by doing chemical experiments, and the macro lens provides me the opportunity to discover the poetic stories in it.
What intrigues me are the real textures, diverse forms and unpredictable changes. The abstract patterns produced in different experiments seem to hide the secrets of nature. The purpose of taking photos is not only to record beautiful things, but also one of the ways to explore the mysteries of nature.
Envisioning Chemistry is one of my representative work. It is a project that uses special photographic techniques to discover and display the beauty of chemistry, which has been widely spread around the world so far.
