ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Bagan, an ancient city located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. 4,446 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of 3822 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day.

AUTHOR
Varda Carmeli, born in 1948, lives and works in Hod Hasharon and Old Jaffa, Israel. Varda engages in painting, printmaking, installation and photography. Over the past years photography has played a dominant role in her artistic endeavor.
Carmeli studied in the Academy of Art and in additional educational institutions,
specializing in photography and printmaking at the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art and at the "Midrasha" Academy of Art.
Since 2007, Varda has been active in Studio 20, a studio of photography in Old Jaffa.
