Nature: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
In preparation for the summer season, a crowd of birch trees sets off from deep in the forest to assume their seasonal postings throughout the Finnish landscape. Simplicity and tranquility create a Zen-like mood.
I converted this image to black and white to emphasize the texture. The absence of color allows concentrating on lines and forms without any distracting elements.
AUTHOR
My work as a language teacher consists in trying to encourage and develop my students’ passion for languages. I graduated as a nature photographer in 2015. I love to turn my focus to the study of forms and lines in nature. I have specialized in Nordic landscapes.
During these past few years, I have developed my visual ability and have found my own photographic style while working with the different visual elements: form, color, movement and lines. I strive to create images which have an unreal and dreamlike atmosphere. An interesting and inviting composition makes a good image. Intuition plays a large role in my photography. The location itself creates a certain mood.
