Nature: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
Without water there is no vegetation, no life. I wanted to put this simple fact in the light of something special, taking away the self-evident. There is no self-evident world at all.
AUTHOR
Born in 1942 in Strasbourg (Alsace).
Trained as a Photographer and Cameraman in Karlsruhe, Berlin und Hamburg.
Afterwards working as a freelance-documentary-cameraman for various TV stations and free photographic works.
In my photographic work I concentrate on the topic “creative nature”.
In the fine and uninterrupted interplay of natural phenomena I find the motifs from which my pictures are created. My favorite techniques are multiple exposures and montages. The transitions between fact and fiction are fluid.
I want to put normal things in the light of the special, take away what is taken for granted. And I stick to what Hans Magnus Enzensberger says in a poem: "There is no art without pleasure".
The image sizes given are the maximum sizes of the printouts – without loss of quality. They result from my way of working, composing an image from several individual images.
