Photojournalism: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
The Devil's Horsemen is a leading film industry horse supplier in Europe, based in the UK. They provide horses, carriages, tack and riders to international films, television programs and photoshoots. They've worked with world renowned production companies, directors, producers and photographers including Disney, Warner Brothers, Netflix and HBO. Due to Covid-19, the film industry, like many others, came to an abrupt halt. I have been documenting the daily activities at the Devil's Horsemen on film, as they continue to care and manage their horses, despite not knowing when they will trade again. The family run farm which is usually buzzing with activity, has grown quieter during COVID which despite added pressures of the unknown, has permitted everyone to slow down and recenter on camaraderie, friendship and family, and the things that matter.
AUTHOR
Born in the UK and raised in Switzerland, I moved to the US to earn a Bachelors degree in Business. I stayed in Texas for ten years where I owned and managed a cutting horse ranch, breeding horses and riding competitively. Horses drew me to photography, I felt the need to explore the animals and ranch life visually. I picked up a camera in 2014 and haven't put it down since, now shooting mostly on film. I recently moved back to the UK to complete a masters in Art History and continue photography.
