Portrait: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This photo is to represent that not all abuse is physical. Abuse has many forms and huge impacts on our mental health. Just because a person seems fine and happy on the outside doesn’t mean that’s how one is feeling on the inside. It’s meant to be a reminder that we all have something we are dealing with and sometimes we just need to take the time to look at one another and ask “how are you doing?” Words that have a heavy meaning to some more than others. So be kind, be compassionate and overall ask how someone is doing on occasion.
AUTHOR
I am a mother of two. Photography has been a passion of mine since I picked up a camera in high school 10 years ago. I try to constantly take photos always looking for ways to improve and be better with every photo I capture. Photography is not only a creative outlet for me but it’s a way for my mental health to heal and for me to escape from the world we live in. Even if I capture moments of our world it still allows me to escape my reality and put myself in someone else’s reality. My kids are my muse and all I hope for is that my photos will speak for themselves. No matter who loves them or not.
