Street: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
This was shot in 2017, Havana Cuba. My wife and I were waiting for a cab one evening. The torrential downpour didn't stop me from shooting the approaching cab while a few Cubans looked on. Sometimes the most inclement weather can create the most interesting photos.
AUTHOR
Murray is a travel and fine art photographer based in Toronto, Canada. After an impressive career as a Creative Director, Art Director and Designer, Murray dropped out of the advertising world to resurrect and pursue his passion for photography and travel.
Although his website exhibits a great deal of colour, his real passion lies within the world of black and white. Brett Weston, Sally Mann, Michael Kenna, Sarah Moon, John Caponigro, Penn and Avedon have been an influence and an inspiration to him as he moves forward with perfecting his art.
His subject matter varies between landscape, people and street photography having travelled to some of the world's most inhospitable and demanding destinations. He believes the skills he developed as an art director have influenced his approach to composition and use of light.
