Wildlife: Honorable Mention 2020 (professional)
ENTRY DESCRIPTION
With their structured, dark skin and their whist tuskers, walruses make for a brilliant black and white subject.
I like their vibrissae, especially when they are frozen. An adult walrus has 400 - 700 whiskers in up to 15 rows around its snout.
AUTHOR
Isabel Jauss is a wildlife and nature photographer based in Hamburg, Germany. Growing up with all kinds of animals, her bond with nature was growing deeper with every year. After working in the fashion industry for some time, she found her true passion while helping at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Africa. Since then, she travels worldwide to make wild animals more accessible to her audience and make people aware of the beauty and fragility in the world that surrounds us. After all, an image touches your feelings more than data and science.
When she is not capturing animals, she takes pictures of musicians or helps local animal groups and wildlife rescue centers.
